We were so happy when our Hobart street clients asked SilQ Interiors to design and project manage the renovation of their main bathroom after having just completed the renovation for their ensuite last year.

Being a beautiful North Perth character home, it was important to them to have the renovations keep in with the style of the home.

Our clients opted to have a renovation completed on their ensuite first, fitted with underfloor heating. A beautiful monochromatic colour scheme with the addition of timber to add warmth to the space. Click on the link to see more photos of the North Perth ensuite renovation.

The layout in the main bathroom was to remain the same, whilst opening the space and getting as much natural light into the area as possible. The shower was dark and had previously been described as a ‘cave’. The clients wanted to keep the stunning cast iron claw foot bathtub which was a feature in itself.

First things first, selections needed to be made. Belinda put together a concept featuring the beautiful “Art Braga” patterned floor tile and hand formed subways from Tiles Expo, Noble Grey Caesarstone benchtop, Settler Profile vanity from Laminex and brushed nickel fittings from Reece Bathrooms.

Before photos are always taken to document the transformation. Our clients beautiful clawfoot bathtub originally had an emerald green base with gold feet as seen below.

Demolition is required to make way for new fittings and selections. During this process all wall/floor tiles and cabinetry is removed. The walls encasing the shower and vanity were opened up to enable as much light to enter the areas as possible. The clawfoot bathtub was taken away and re-enamelled white internally. Dulux Dieskau was finished on the outer and the feet finished in a silver to complement the brushed nickel tapware fittings.

Not all good work is always seen in the finished product when it comes to renovations. The plumbing is chased and relocated and then fitted off. The cabinetry selected for the vanity, a Laminex Batallion with a shaker door profile gave the vanity character in style with the home. The clients sourced the beautiful mirror from a local Mt Lawley supplier.

One of the most rewarding parts of the whole renovation process is getting the post-renovation photos taken. Seeing the difference and transformation between the before and after photos and our happy clients is something else.
