Wembley Bathroom Renovation
What was the reason for your clients wanting to renovate their bathroom?
The clients had recently purchased the property and the existing bathroom looked outdated and needed a big refreshment. The clients requested the new bathroom to be light, airy and fresh incorporating grey tones and textures into the design. They also wanted to include a toilet and bath into the bathroom to make the most of the space that they could work with as well as increasing the value of the property.
What were the first steps to planning the design?
After an onsite meeting with clients to go over their requests and requirements a detailed technical drawings was put together to conceptualise the space to see what the best layout for the clients were. Due to the clients wanting to include a toilet and bath in the space, we adjusted the vanity making it smaller and made best use of the shower to incorporate it into a shower/bath.
How are the selections made?
The clients were invited to our studio in West Perth to make selections. We have a collection of tiles that clients can have a look at and choose, a large range of stone, engineered stone, compact laminates, tapware and hardware which makes it easier for clients to select and visualise.
We use all Australian based suppliers including the fittings so the clients selected some plumbing fixtures from Reece and we worked from there. We then put together a flat lay of their selections to ensure that all selections worked beautifully together.
Was it difficult to incorporate a toilet and bath in the space?
Not at all, although the space was limited we reduced the size of the vanity but still ensured there was plenty of space on the vanity benchtop and additional storage was incorporated into the mirror for everyday items – it is an excellent way to add space to a smaller bathroom without any detriment to the visual impact.
How long did it take to complete this bathroom?
We like to complete most of our bathroom renovations within a three-week period which gives plenty of time for our trades to do a great job and not too long to keep our clients without a bathroom. This beautiful bathroom was completed in under three weeks, no details were missed
This is quite a small space, what are the main features and benefits?
When it comes to smaller bathrooms, some may be inclined to think that they need to give up on lovely features that come with a new bathroom as they may not fit in the space or suit. Although this bathroom is on the smaller side we still managed to incorporate a lot of storage underneath the vanity and within the mirror creating a cabinet space for everyday items. The clients wanted to make the space feel as large and bright as possible. For this we installed a clear shower screen with matte white wall tiles to allow for as much light as possible to reflect within the space. The floor tiles give texture whilst the timber look vanity adds warmth. Heated towel rails compliment these features and add a luxurious element to the bathroom.
